Travis Scott Label Owes Almost $200K For Unpaid Music Video

According to Page Six, the company responsible for Travis Scott’s “Wake Up” has still not been paid by Sony/Epic Records. New court documents show that the Los Angeles based Smuggler, Inc. are owed $200,000 by the label.

After receiving the initial installment of $561,766, the company claims Epic records ghosted them and refused

to pay out the additional $187,255. Smuggler worked on the music video for Travis Scott's "Wake Up", which is still public on YouTube and has over 40 Million views.

The suit alleges that Epic records claimed that they were unhappy with the final video, in order to renegotiate the agreed price or even try to cancel payment all together. However, the music video had already been released for three weeks when these attempts were made. Smuggler also says they have emails of correspondence with Travis Scott and his team and they were satisfied with the video.

Smuggler claims, “Epic never intended to pay Smuggler the final payment as promised in the agreement, and that it looked for, and fabricated, excuses to try to reduce the contract price to an amount below $600,000 as it had repeatedly requested in the negotiations, but which Smuggler repeatedly refused to agree to,” The suit claims that Epic expressed the video was "Beautifully shot." after seeing an initial cut of the video.

Smuggler alleges that in addition to refusing to pay the rest of the contract price Epic Records has been actively “blacklisting” the company from other major projects. The company claims many directors "inexplicably" pulled out of jobs that Smuggler had been bidding for.

Epic records nor Travis Scott have made any statements regarding this suit, as of the publishing of this article.
