Mariah The Scientist Drops Sonically Appeasing Masterpiece “To Be Eaten Alive”

"TO BE EATEN ALIVE"

After recently parting ways with RCA and signing a new deal with Epic Records, Mariah The Scientist has dropped her highly anticipated project, "To Be Eaten Alive." The album lives up to all the expectations set for her. This marks Mariah's third project, and you can clearly hear her growth as an artist throughout this album.

Sonically, the LP is nothing short of amazing, with seamless transitions and blends between songs. It's an album where you don't have to keep skipping through to find your favorite tracks. The project comprises 10 tracks and includes features from artists such as Vory, Young Thug, and 21 Savage.

However, the LP is labeled as an R&B/Soul compilation, but in a recent interview with Complex, Mariah expressed her frustration with how the industry pigeonholes her into a specific genre. She stated, "I think anybody that sings and is Black or they think you might be Black, they put you in this category of R&B music... It's like, why? What really defines R&B? What does that mean?"

She drew a parallel to Lana Del Rey and alternative music, asking, "Or what really defines alternative? It's like if Lana Del Rey is singing about heartbreak, why is her album categorized as alternative? And then I put out music, and it's automatically supposed to be R&B."

Mariah then proposed the idea of creating a new genre, which she humorously called "A&B," standing for alternative and blues, as a way to break free from these traditional genre constraints. She added, "I don't know if it'll happen, but I feel like if I did make that, that's what I would fall into."

As a fan, how would you describe Mariah's sound? Let us know, and while you're at it, stream "To Be Eaten Alive" now available on all major streaming platforms.
