J.Cole’s Dreamville Launches Dreamville Ventures/Dreamville Studios

Some major developments taking place with J. Cole’s Dreamville. Dreamville has expanded to Dreamville Ventures (a multi-disciplinary media company) and Dreamville Studios (a content studio that will produce original and co-produced content.)

Rapper J. Cole Co-founded the label Dreamville in 2007 and has a distribution deal with Interscope. Cole along with Ari Lennox, Earth Gang, Baz, Cozz, J.I.D, Lute, and Omen make up the stacked roster of talent. Their compilation project “Revenge of the Dreamers III,” scanned platinum earlier this year.

Cole told Variety Magazine, “Dreamville has always been a mom-and-pop operation with grand ambitions and ideas that extend far beyond music.” Dreamville Ventures will help elevate Cole’s vision for the brand, as they have intentions of tapping into music, TV and film, publishing, apparel, and live events.

Helping lead the new Dreamville Ventures is Damien Scott, president of Dreamville, and Candace Rodney, who serves as Dreamville executive vice president and president of Dreamville Studios. Cole touts Scott and Rodney as “two of the smartest and most capable executives in the industry,” and the key players who will help turn Dreamville’s big ideas into reality. Indeed, both are very capable and qualified for such a task. According to Variety Magazine, Scott was previously at Complex Media where he held the title of editor-in-chief and VP of content and development and helped launch annual Complex Con festival. Prior to joining Dreamville, Rodney served as senior VP of development at Wilmore Films. Her resume also includes positions at Sony Pictures Television, Lionsgate Television and Creative Artists Agency.

Dreamville continues to grow bigger, having already established partnerships with brands such as Puma, and Bape. We are all looking forward to the continued success of J.Cole’s vision, and all who are involved in making it come to life.
