Behind The Scenes: Meet Producer Hendrix Smoke

As of late, music producers are finally receiving the recognition they deserve for their contribution to the creation of an artist's song or album. In 2018, Spotify introduced a feature that would allow listeners to view producer and songwriter credits for every track. While we are in a different era of music, the internet has not only changed the music industry for talented acts, but producers as well.

Meet Derrick Miller, also known as Hendrix Smoke, a music producer originally from Kentucky, who now splits his time between Los Angeles and Atlanta. Hendrix first got started in the industry at the age of 17, locking his first placement with Fendi P. and Lil Wayne for their collaboration “Wit My Left”. Since then, the 27-year-old has been hard at work, producing tracks for some of hip-hop’s biggest names.

Hendrix has been fortunate enough to work with artists such as BlocBoy JB and 2 Chainz, whose project “So Help Me God!” was his favourite to execute. Currently, the producer is working with rappers Future, Hotboii and Kodak Black. As far as his wish list, he says he would like to work with several musicians and fellow producers, including Kanye West, Nas, Mike Dean, Scott Storch and Metro Boomin.

Besides working on 2 Chainz’s project, Hendrix is known for his production on the soundtrack for the Netflix film “Beats”, and BlocBoy JB’s album, "FatBoy". Just recently, the young producer signed with ATL Jacob’s new record label, Wicked Money Family.
