Behind the Scenes: Meet Music Producer Sean Momberger

Music is undeniably the most important art form and yet some professions in the industry remain underrated. For instance, music producers who play an important role in the recording process and help craft the songs, are often overlooked – until now! Meet 30-year-old Sean Momberger, a music producer who’s behind some of the biggest hits in hip-hop and R&B, having worked with the likes of Jeezy, Bryson Tiller, YK Osiris, Chris Brown, Young Thug, Wale and many more.

Sean was born and raised in Gainesville, Florida and after graduating from Florida State University in Tallahassee, he moved to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in music. His interest in music started at a young age while listening to different artists, such as OutKast, Tupac, Jackson 5 and Lil Wayne. In middle school, Sean developed a passion for producing music after listening to Kanye’s “The College Dropout” and Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint”. After watching YouTube videos of producers like Kanye West, Mannie Fresh and Just Blaze making beats, he realized he had an ear for music – and that music production was the career path he was going to take.

Sean began working closely with his friend and mentor Lee Major from Virginia, who taught him a lot about the music industry. Inglewood rapper Skeme is also someone Sean has been influenced by, and whom he credits for opening a lot of doors for him. While working with Skeme, Sean landed his first major placement on Iggy Azalea's debut studio album “The New Classic”, with the hit record “Fancy”. This was his first credit on an album released by a major label. When asked about a favorite project he’s worked on until now, the LA based producer said that Chris Brown’s “Heartbreak On A Full Moon” was definitely his favorite. Other projects that were special to him include Bryson Tillers “Anniversary” and Chris Brown and Young Thug’s “Slime & B”.

What’s next?

Sean is looking forward to working with a lot of talented producers and a few up and coming artists, including MikexAngel, Ljay Currie, Lil Duece, Leegit, Johnny Yukon and Elliot Trent.
