The Life and Death of XXXTentacion, Prodigy and Tupac (Playlist)

On June 18th 2018, rapper XXXTentacion was pronounced dead at 20 years of age, due to a gunshot wound that occurred during an armed robbery as X was leaving a motorcycle dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

His death, like many other celebrity tragedies, sparked an outpouring of love from fans and artists alike on social media. The rapper was not short of controversy, and it appears even in his death he will continue to stir up a storm.

Fans began to share one of X’s Instagram live video’s, in which he discusses “being a sacrifice” and mentions multiple times his view on him dying young. This chilling foreshadowing has some people questioning the incident, especially because the rapper had been followed by some serious accusations during his short life, including homophobia and domestic violence, and some have been suspecting that it was a targeted attack on X. Time will likely tell us more about the situation, but we know one thing for sure: death/murder is never the answer, and the extinguishment of someone’s life is never the solution to a problem.

On another note, June 20th marks the 1 year death anniversary of Prodigy, a New York native that died at age 42 last year of accidental choking. Similar to the potential conspiracy around XXXTentacion’s untimely death, people had a lot to say about Prodigy’s cause of death.

Prodigy was very open about his battle with sickle cell anemia, a blood disease that causes an abnormality in the hemoglobin in red blood cells. Interestingly, he was extremely forward with his views on the notorious secret society, the Illuminati. He preached about it constantly in interviews, and wrote an open letter to famed apparent Illuminati member Jay-Z. Prodigy’s outspokenness on the Illuminati has caused people to question his real cause of death, as it was not related to his very prominent sickle cell anemia and occurred as he was writing a musical on Illuminati theory.

The last thing we’ll be talking about, in this admittedly depressing post, is the legendary West-Coast rapper Tupac Shakur. On June 16th 2018, the rapper would have been 48 years old if he hadn’t been fatally shot in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1996.

Like the previous artists we’ve mentioned thus far, Tupac’s death sparked a fair share of public intrigue. Many people believed the infamous feud between the East and West coast hip-hop community was responsible for Tupac’s death, more specifically, Notorious B.I.G who was considered Tupac’s rival at the time. Over 20 years later, conspiracies surrounding his death are rampant, and many of them are incredibly interesting, I’ve linked a great video here.

In the hip-hop community, we have now unfortunately added another date to mourn in the month of June. To celebrate the hard work of these artists, we’ve compiled a playlist for you to binge this month. We hope each of these artist’s rests in paradise, and we are very comforted in knowing their music will live on forever.
